Hearty and flavorful black bean burgers that are easy to make and customizable with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

  • 1 can black beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 egg (or flax egg for vegan option)
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and other desired toppings

Instructions

  1. Mash the black beans with a fork until mostly smooth.
  2. Stir in the breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, cumin, chili powder, salt, pepper, and the egg until well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into patties, pressing firmly.
  4. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  5. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and heated through.
  6. Serve on burger buns with lettuce, tomato, and your favorite toppings.

Notes

These burgers can be stored in an airtight container for up to three days or frozen for up to three months.
