Delightfully fluffy cinnamon rolls topped with a silky icing, perfect for breakfast or an afternoon treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Activate the yeast: In a bowl, mix warm milk with sugar and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until it foams, indicating the yeast is active.
  2. Form the dough: In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a cohesive dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Flour your work surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
  4. Prepare the filling: Roll out the risen dough into a rectangle, spread softened butter, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Roll and slice: Roll the dough tightly and slice into 1-inch pieces. Place slices in a greased pan.
  6. Second rise: Cover and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
  7. Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Drizzle with icing: Mix powdered sugar and milk, then drizzle over warm rolls before serving.
